Rocking the Runway: London Fashion Week 2018

London Fashion Week 2017 saw a striking success with the debut of Stories from Morocco and this year followed suit with the Stories from Arabia showcasing the Middle East and North Africa's most defining Designers, as the Catwalk displayed their passion, creativity and skilled crafts through their collection.

Described as 'Arab's largest Platform for emerging and established Designers, showcasing at London Fashion Week', Stories of Arabia rocked the runway at London Fashion Week 2018, with fashion veterans, social media wizards and industry experts warmly welcomed eight razzing designers fill the runway with their creativity and talent, at the De Vere Grand, Connaught Rooms, in the heart of London.

Guests, Invitees, Press and Media were welcomed by the team and guided to the Media Room, where they were able to have their Make Up and Henna done and enjoy the luxuries available.

Founder and CEO, Jalila Elmastouki, spoke about the inspiration behind Stories from Arabia being, to bring back the artisanship, skills and beauty of the Middle East and North Africa's traditional embroideries, with a Western flavour. The Show celebrated the skills and talents of the Designers, as we saw hand-tailored, customised and bespoke pieces which had brought to life Elmastouki's vision of traditional pieces recreated into contemporary pieces.

Elmastouki spoke about the resounding success that London Fashion Week 2017 saw, with the Moroccan Designers, that she wanted to open the opportunity to all the Arab countries and bring to stage the wonderful women skill set, whilst highlighting that the Arab women are equal, artist and inspirational, not orthodox and oppressed.

Stories from Arabia featured eight elite Designers from the Middle East, North Africa, the Gulf and the United States of America. The team of talent includes Bassma Boussel, Ahmed Albalushi, Ghita Lahrichi, Maysoon Alshami, Laila Aziz, Velvet Abaya and Raghda Tapponi.

Elmastouki says “It is my mission to share with the world the Arab identity and its perception to a foreign audience, Stories From Arabia creates that bridge between Arabia and the Western World to change the way people think about the region and to support Arab designers by making their work accessible to a British audience.”

Bassma Boussel's collection takes it's influence from the stylings of world famous musician, Michael Jackson, taking on the traditions of techniques from Morocco. Boussel says "This collection means a lot to me as it took a whole year to make all of the designs. I put a lot of love into it. London Fashion Week was a dream for me and I am so excited that it’s coming true, I have a mixture of pride and fear as it’s going to be a new experience for me. And hopefully that it’s going to be the best ever!”

Lahrichi's First Love Collection, inspired by the jumpsuit, says "I am telling my story in this collection. From the basic jumpsuit to the bridal one. Every piece represents all the elements I cherish the most: from my favourite Moroccan technic to the embroidery design. The right balance between tradition and modernity” – as the modernity represents the jumpsuit, and the tradition is the attachment to my origins.”

Aziz talks about the vision behind her Kayat Collection, saying “I got my inspiration from Moroccan art. The colourful Moroccan patterns and bright colours inspired me the most when I was creating this collection. Every piece is unique due to all the dresses being handmade with extensive embroidery and metal draping. Every dress has its own storyline – where it all starts with the raw materials. This collection definitely means a lot to me since it represents my roots. I am Moroccan and Dutch so you will see two very different worlds coming together within my designs.”

Abaya's vision behind her collection, A Velvet, Velet World stems from her "designing each piece with love and passion. We have used different textiles such as crepe, lace and velvet embellished with sequins in cool shades of pastels. I always make sure that my designs are elegant diverse and reflect our region. The variation of styles all tells a story."

Following on from a smashing and successful show, Stories from Arabia then hosted a posh and pronounced Penthouse Party, with an exquisite Araian theme at the Connaught Rooms, to celebrate their successes.

A huge Congratulations to Elmastouki and entire team behind Stories from Arabia on achieving their vision and showcasing such a vibrant, skilled and creative team of talent!

Thank you London Fashion Week 2018 and Stories from Arabia for inviting Dynamitez to provide the Press & Media coverage at the Stories From Arabia Fashion Show Catwalk.
