Happy New Year... 2018: May it truly be Yours!
We often hear people say that they are definitely going to hit the gym from Monday, start saving from the 1st of next month or even commit to spending more time with loved ones as soon as this project/deadline comes to a close, with work. However, you can bet your bottom dollar, or pound here in the United Kingdom, come the end of the year, most people will vow to make one change or another!
Traditionally, these used to be known and referred to as New Year's Resolutions, however living in this modern era, which has given birth to and raises commitaphobis, we hear less and less people referring to making New Year's Resolutions, instead saying they are happy to adopt and adapt a New Me! So this post is dedicated to all of you that wait for a particular day, date or time to create a change.
I have always found that having a build up towards something, usually added extra and unneeded pressure, on both the change and the person making it, and for what?! Nothing! However, that additional pressure and build usually led to some form of failure, either in some part or whole. So I wanted to create this article to share some of my experiences on such situations, which may change your thought process or even on how you actually do things, in the future.
From the tender age of five, I have been blessed by some of the most amazing dance Gurus this world has ever seen, which allowed me to showcase my talent and skills on stages, across the world. As one may imagine, at such an influential age, any form of fame can be overwhelming, if not nerve racking! However, this is where I learnt life's first lesson 😌. I learnt that if I waited until I had built enough confidence to take the stage, by the time that moment came, the stage and it's sparkling spotlight would be gone and so my journey of confidence, independence and self worth started. So sit back, take note and if this article can help even one person, then it's a success for me.
In those challenging moments, where I was so sure that I had no hope of turning something round, out of nowhere, I would! Yes, it was probably because God was feeling my pain, but more to do with my mental strength, eventually kicking in!
When I needed people around me the most, is when they disappeared the first and fastest. So ironically, when I had learnt to hold myself up and wipe my own tears, the most comforting shoulder caught me.
Naturally, this taught me independence and self-standing worth, so much so, that when I learnt to be alone and push people away, someone came along who would love me unconditionally and from their core to my core.
What I guess this post should resonate is that.... That's life! It does not matter how well you plan something or what you want to happen, life can have it's own plan and nothing you say, do or think will change that.
With this, I leave you all with a final thought...

Whilst success introduces you to the world, it is worth remembering that failure introduces the world to you.
Happy New Year.. May 2018 be all you dream and desire it to be be!
